Ecophilosophers: A way of living

In this essay I try to give some ideas that anybody can use in their ordinary life, ideas that can help to face the present environmental problems, because in my opinion, if people change their way of living and act ecologically, things could be changed.

Think Green

As the human population continues to grow and technological advancements such as the internet, mass media production, air, land, road and water transportation help make more material goods more readily available to people all over the world, we consume more and more natural resources and what better way is to teach every citizen on how to think green.

Less waste, less ignorance

It's a sad truth, but in a world where money is #1 value people are motivated to buy and consume more and more without actually thinking what are they buying, why and what happens after they use it. Do we really need to buy and use this much, leaving tons of waste and polluted areas behind? I suggest using the power of TV(as it influences people the most)and advertising to increase public awareness of environmental issues and provide some ideas of reducing the amount of waste worldwide.

With an ever-increasing population, how can we maximise resource efficiency to meet our growing needs?

With an experience of working for an organization dealing with sustainable development and design in China, I try to think of some solutions for making a more eco-friendly society, by not just focusing on maximizing our resource efficiency, but by also reducing resource consumption.

H2O, food, energy...

Every single day the population of the Earth is increasing. At the same time, every human being needs resources in order to live. Those resources can be divided into three main categories: - drinking water; - food; - energy (thermal and electricity). We should not forget about these problems and try not to deepen them with our daily actions. We should raise new generations in a spirit of sustainable development, participate actively in organization supporting an environment-friendly way of living and share our knowledge and objectives with others.

The answer is inside in everyone

Finding the answer by the most logical way...the essay is about to tell my opinion about this problem which - I think - is not a problem. Just we make it to a problem. To make things right, we have to change our teaching-system and mainly our morality. To do that we have to undress some of our everyday habits.

Care and respect for People; Planet; and Prosperity

Today World population is 6 billion and still counting, at the rate growth rate of 1.5% per year. But this present growth rate was far more less than what was there in 1960’s i.e. (1960:2.0% and 1963:2.79%). In spite of this downtrend in rate of growth we are facing with high rate of child mortality at 60 per 1000 live births, infant mortality rate at 46.4 per 1000 live births according to UN in 2009 and malnourished stood at 925 million. Is this the scenario of 2010 then imagine what will our future 2020 might look like when we reach 2020 where population will be more than 7.5 billion.

Five Dimensional Approach to Maximize Resource Efficiency

by Asia

Keeping in view the importance of the issue of resource efficiency, a multi-dimensional approach is suggested to increase the resource efficiency. It should be addressed at individual, local, national, regional and international perspective. Awareness, education, innovation, social interaction and regulation can make the resources efficient.

AWARNESS TO THE WORLD ABOUT ENERGY SAVING METHODS

Increase in the population and the question to that of how to maximize the resources has become a global phenomena all over the world and a solution for that will only be provided when every when on the earth would start thinking about this emerging problem and would take it seriously from a child to an old age man ,and this could be only done through spreading the awareness in people as life in the world is so busy that a common person doesn’t have time to think upon it until the resource comes to an end.

MAXIMIZING RESOURCE EFFICIENCY-NOT MERELY A QUESTION OF "CONSUME OR CONSERVE"

I happened to come across this competition while searching for some information on sustainable development the other day.I found the topic of the competition both interesting and challenging, therefore,I decided to participate in the essay contest with a view to testing not only my English but also my knowledge of sustainability. There are certainly many essays superior to mine in ideas and creativity but what really matters is that I have a chance to express my own opinion.I would be grateful to any comments and suggestions for improving my piece of writing. After all, winning is not everythin
