2013 Photo Competition – Voting extended
Due to the large number of last minute submissions and by popular demand, the Sustainable Thinking Platform is glad to announce the deadline for voting on our photo competition has been extended to midnight 24 May 2013.
Submissions – which closed on 30 April -will be initially rated in a first round by the online platform members. The shortlisted finalists will then be judged by a panel comprised of international journalists and industry representatives.

VinylPlus launches new photo competition
Following the enormous success of the last multimedia competition, VinylPlus has re-launched its Sustainable Thinking Platform, the online community for young people from all around the world to discuss and learn about sustainability issues. More than 2,500 people from over 90 different countries had signed up to join the 2010 edition.

Following detailed deliberations by the judging panel, the winners of the second edition of the Vinyl 2010 Sustainable Thinking Platform multimedia competition have been announced.

With an ever-increasing population, how can we maximize resource efficiency to meet our growing needs?
The foreseeable shortage of energy resources must be addressed with intelligent, future-proof strategies. Betting on only one card entails the risk of ultimately being left empty-handed. The needs of the moment call for the use of all available levers – the diversification of energy carriers and technologies and the mobilization of all conservation, reactivation and efficiency-boosting strategies. More work must be done on reorientation of renewable energy plants. The private consumer sector, must receive more attention on energy conservation and efficiency. More decentralized supply structures would reduce the risks of widespread power outages. Political cooperation arguably stands a better chance of success than confrontation. Ultimately, the intensification of competition for new energies and technologies will benefit energy supplies in all countries.
