Following detailed deliberations by the judging panel, the winners of the second edition of the Vinyl 2010 Sustainable Thinking Platform multimedia competition have been announced.

The winners of the first edition of the Vinyl 2010 Sustainable Thinking Platform multimedia competition have been announced following detailed deliberations by the judging panel.
Vinyl 2010 Sustainable Thinking Platform – Multimedia Competition
Rules for Participation
Eligibility: Open to people aged 18 to 30 years old (on the closing date of each edition of the competition).
Entry fees: Free.
Submissions: Submissions will only be accepted if received via the Sustainable Thinking Platform uploading system. By submitting an entry, each participant acknowledges their understanding of and compliance with these rules. Vinyl 2010 reserves the right to disqualify any entry deemed inappropriate for publication, at their discretion.
Maximum number of submissions: Participants can submit a maximum of 1 essay, 3 pictures and 1 video.
Deadlines: There will be two consecutive editions during 2010 with parallel competitions in three different categories: essay, photography and video.
1st Edition: 1 April to 31 July 2010. Winners will be announced during the first week of August.
2nd Edition: 1 August to 30 November 2010. Winners will be announced during the first week of December.
Topics: All submissions must be related to the selected topic for the edition being entered.
1st Edition: Faced with increasing resource scarcity, how can young people contribute to the promotion of sustainable production and consumption?
2nd Edition: To be announced.
Judging: Submissions will be judged in two phases. First, they will be peer-reviewed by other users, who will be able to allocate a maximum number of 5 votes to each individual work. Participants will be able to vote for more than one entry. An expert panel composed of journalists and industry representatives will then select the winners (essay, photo, video) out of the five/ten works with the highest number of votes at the end of each edition.
Prizes: Prizes will be awarded at the end of both editions to the winners in each of the three categories (essay, photography and video). Vinyl 2010 reserves the right not to attribute any or all of the prizes should it judge that the nominations are not of a sufficiently high standard to meet the selection criteria. Prizes are non-transferable.

During registration, the members of the community will be able to list a friend as the person how told them about the competitions. Those listed as a referral for the winners will be awarded a €100 gift certificate for Amazon.
Authorship: Essays, photos and videos must be original, factually accurate, and must not infringe or violate any law or the legal or equitable right of any person or entity; nor contain material that infringes or violates any personal property rights of others; or that constitutes libel, defamation, invasion of privacy, or an infringement of the intellectual property rights of any third person; nor be otherwise unlawful.
Copyright: In entering the competition, all entrants accept that their work, and all rights to their publication, automatically become the property of Vinyl 2010, which may use, edit and excerpt these entries for promotional or any other purpose, including placing them online without compensation, additional or otherwise. Vinyl 2010 reserves the right to use participants' names, age and nationality in any advertising or promotional materials relating to this competition without further notification, permission, or compensation to the winners, except where prohibited by law.
Essay Competition: Each candidate may summit only 1 essay.
* All essays must be written in English.
* Essays must be submitted as an A4 word document with all margins set at 3cm and using 11 point Arial font.
* Essays must be no longer than 1,000 words.
* Handwritten essays or essays presented in any other way will be disqualified.
Photography Competition: Each candidate may summit up to 3 different photos.
* Contributions must be submitted as .jpeg, .png and .bmp, If you have produced a different file format, please make sure to convert it into one of the above.
* Files must be be at least 640x480 but no larger than 5 MB.
* Photos presented in any other way will be disqualified
Video Competition: Each candidate may summit only 1 video.
* If the video contains dialogues or voiceover this must be recorded or subtitled in English.
* If the video contains text, this must be written or subtitled in English.
* Participants will provide a link to their videos hosted on a platform such as Youtube, Vimeo or Dailymontion.
* Videos must be no longer than 3 minutes.
* Videos presented in any other way will be disqualified.

Exclusions: Employees of Vinyl 2010, its members and suplpliers, and their immediate family members are not eligible to win any of he prizes given by the Sustainable Thinking Platform. However, they are allowed to join the platform and participate in the ongoing discussion.
