Bunny's pelt becomes gray and dusty while he is in an environment where non-renewable sources of energy are employed - coal, oil, natural gas, nuclear energy. The pelt regains its white colour when bunny is in a safe environment which employs the renewable sources of energy - wind, sun, wood, biomass, ground heat and tides.
